40th Annual Pageant of Bands
Sunday, March 4th, 2012 2:30 PM Holt High School Gymnasium
The 40th Annual Pageant of Bands will be held Sunday, March 4th at Holt High School in the gym. Pageant of Bands showcases all of the bands at both Wentzville Holt and Wentzville Middle School in one giant concert. All five concert bands and the jazz band perform in the same concert hall on the same Sunday afternoon. This is always a well attended event. It is a great opportunity to see the progression of the students as they advance from beginners to accomplished high school musicians. Check out the Pageant of Bands page for more information.
Mouse Races 2012
Friday, March 2nd
Doors open at 6 PM with first races at 7 PM
Friday, March 2nd, the band boosters will be hosting their first annual Mouse Races. Enjoy a fun filled evening wagering on your favorite pony. Ok, so these ponies are actually mice, but the fun is the same and all of the money raised goes to the band. Find all the details here, including everything you need to pre-register and pay online. If you get your tickets today you can save $5 per ticket over the price at the door.
"David's Cookies" Cookie Dough Pick-up February 16th
Order are in for our third major fundraiser of the year, the annual “David’s Cookies” Cookie Dough Fundraiser. Orders will be delivered to the high school for pick-up Thursday, February 16th. Check out all of the details on the Fundraiser page.
Boosters to Get Reorganized
The Holt Band Boosters have formed a committee to look into changes to the organization and by-laws governing the group. As the band has grown so too have the number of parent volunteers involved and responsibilities of the organization. In order to keep up with these changes the boosters have started a process to more carefully align the structure of the organization with the functions performed.
To start with a new organization chart was proposed and accepted at the January parent's meeting. Download the chart and the January meeting minutes on the minutes page to see and understand these changes. The goal of the committee is to get more parents, new and existing, involved by making it easier to understand what everyone's role is how to contribute.
The next steps on the process will be to look carefully at the by-laws and recommend improvements.
New Scrip Calendars for November and December
New calendars for November and December Scrip sales are now available on the Scrip page. You don't know what Scrip is you say? Scrip is a great way to use your everyday purchases to make money for the band. By purchasing gift cards through the band boosters a percentage of what you spend on gas or groceries or at your local restaurants goes back to the band. Check out the Scrip page for details on how the program works and all the participating businesses.
Charms is Up and Running
Log in to your students account today!
We have instituted a new online bookkeeping system this year. It is called Charms Office Assistant. Your student was sent home from band camp with information that contained their personal login ID. You can now use this ID to log into Charms by going to www.charmsoffice.com. If you do not have your students ID please email Nancy nancybuell@rocketmail.com.
Once you are logged in you can check on your students account, view their uniform information, verify what forms have been turned in and more. Please verify that all of the contact information is correct. The email addresses with each student will be what is used for future notices.
An important feature we are using within Charms will be the calendar. This is your opportunity to keep up with event schedules and volunteer needs. Please take the time to look through the dates and volunteer for those events you have expressed interest in.
